Okay, there are some tedious tasks to finish still. You need to create a clickable Spotify logo if you want a legit website. Once your music is on the service, download the logo at iconfinder.com. Next, search for your band profile on Spotify (several options will come up, including “Top Hit, Tracks, Playlists”… you want to select the link under “Artist”). While hovering over your artist profile, right click and select “Copy Spotify URI.” Last, combine the URI with the Spotify logo by adding it to your website or blog sidewall by creating an “Image Widget.”
It’s here Grooveshark really shines with it’s huge collection of music. I listen to a music style called Psytrance. It can be really hard finding music in this genre but Grooveshark surprised me a lot when I found out it had old classic psy tracks from the 90′s that was impossible to find at Spotify. I spoke with my firend who’s really into the band Tool. He said that not a single song were present at Spotify. I made a search on Grooveshark and the result? See the picture down below.
This will let you play Spotify music on your hifi, but you’ll still need your laptop/PC and it lacks the convenience of a larger integrated whole house system. What is possible, is to combine Spotify with a server application that integrates with any number of remote controls, keypads or touch-panels in the home. One solution is to build a stand alone box that acts as both a Spotify client and a tcp server that can be controlled from any number of ethernet devices throughout the home. The unit can be tucked away in a cupboard or even rack mounted in an existing AV hub. The box can be connected directly to a TV or hifi, but it can also be connected into a whole house AV system, whereby the Spotify music stream can be switched to any room in the house.

A distributor is going to get you on iTunes, Amazon, Google, Spotify and others. But here’s the thing – some distributors are going to charge you yearly fees, some are going to charge you monthly fees, some are going to charge you by the album or song, and some are going to nickel and dime you every chance they can. They all have fine print they hope you don’t read. Some will take away your rights to your music, some will use your music in ways you will never know about and in ways you don’t want.
