Use a clear CTA:

Spotify Codes are new and unfamiliar to many people. Use a clear CTA in your creative so users know to scan using the Spotify app, such as “Scan on Spotify” or “Search and Scan”.

SIZE APPROPRIATELY:

Think about where users will be viewing Spotify Codes & how far away they’ll be when scanning. Remember that the in-app camera doesn’t zoom.

KEEP THE RECTANGLE:

Spotify Codes must have a distinct rectangle that stands out from the background they sit on top of. Without this, users may not be able to scan the Spotify Code.

GET SOCIAL:

Spotify Codes can be used almost anywhere but they might make more sense on platforms without link-outs like Instagram and Snapchat rather than Facebook or Twitter. Remember, users can take screenshots of your posts and import them using the Spotify scanner.

Spotify Codes work better on close-up placements like flyers or posters rather than far-away displays.

  • A Spotify Code is a QR-like “scannable” tag that can be used to quickly share or access a piece of content within Spotify.

  • Spotify Codes can be created for artist profiles, brand profiles, playlists, albums, and songs. If there is a Spotify URI, you can generate a Spotify Code.

  • A URI is a code you can use for embedding, and searching within the Spotify app. Spotify URI codes look like this: spotify:user:spotify:playlist:37i9dQZF1DXcBWIGoYBM5M. To find a Spotify URI, right-click on a piece of content in Spotify, and select Share > URI.

  • There isn’t a specific minimum size for a Spotify Code, but it’s always better to use a high resolution version and shrink it. Also, make sure to test your Spotify Code at actual print size before finalizing any printed materials.

  • Yes! Spotify Codes can be generated in any color, provided there is enough contrast between the bars of the Code and the background it sits on. There must be a distinctive rectangle border around the Code so the Scanner can recognize it.

  • Spotify Codes can only be read from the in-app scanner on the Spotify app.

  • Yes, if you have the Spotify URI you can generate the Code.

  • You can change a playlist title and contents after creating a Spotify Code and it should still work as long as the URI does not change. (IE: Don’t delete the playlist and create a new one, or change the username on your account if you’re sharing your playlists.)

  • Spotify Codes need the Spotify logo at the front so they can be read by the scanner.

  • You can put a Spotify Code almost anywhere. We created Spotify codes so that you can share your favourite content on Spotify in a unique and fun way. You will be able to deploy Spotify Codes on your social profile or website, just remember to check the terms of use for any site you post on.
